Getting a couch out of a house or an apartment here

Kingsland has grown fast, and the housing shows it: older homes around town, newer subdivisions, rentals and plenty of apartments where a sofa has to come down a flight of stairs. Every one of those is a different carry, which is why we ask where the couch sits before we price it.

An established house on the Laurel Island side or a newer one off Laurel Island Parkway gets the same care on the way out: the angle worked out before anybody lifts, coverings down on the floor, and nothing scraped along a doorframe.

When orders come in, the old couch is often the first thing a family decides isn’t worth a spot on the moving truck. Tell us the day you have to be out, and the pickup gets built around that date, because it isn’t one you get to move.

What we handle

How the couch comes out

Recliners come apart at the swivel base and sectionals at their seams, so a big piece leaves in sections when the doorway calls for it. A sleeper hides a steel frame and springs inside, and we bring the hands that weight takes.

Every so often a couch was put together in the room it sits in and won’t clear any door. Then we cut it down right there and carry out the pieces.

Pet hair is no trouble and we don’t charge extra for it. If there’s any chance of bedbugs, please tell us before we arrive, so we can plan how it’s wrapped and carried.

Send us a few photos and tell us what you need removed. We’ll take it from there.

Pricing

What changes the price

Couch pricing scales with size, weight and where the couch is. A loveseat on the ground floor is the light end; a sleeper coming down from an upstairs apartment is the heavy one.

Put a mattress, a dresser or the matching chair on the same pickup and it’s one trip and one number. The drive from Brunswick is already counted in it, and that number is the one you pay.

Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95.

After the pickup

Where it goes

Where a couch ends up depends on its condition and the job. A solid, clean one may be offered for donation; the organization decides what it accepts, and condition matters.

Those may be offered for donation, and the center decides what it takes. Donation centers aren’t an extension of the landfill, and condition matters.

The rest is disposed of properly, with any metal frame recycled when that’s practical.
