How we price

Volume, weight, access, disposal route, crew time.

Junk removal pricing is straightforward when somebody explains it honestly: volume, weight, access, disposal route, and crew time. That’s the entire formula. Anyone telling you they have a flat per-item rate that applies to every job in every house is either oversimplifying or overcharging.

The biggest factor is volume — how much space the load takes up in our truck. The industry standard is to charge by the load, with break points at one-eighth, one-quarter, one-half, three-quarters, and full truck. A single couch is a small load. A whole-garage cleanout is a big one. We measure on site and price what the actual load comes to.

Weight matters when the materials are heavy enough that the landfill or recycler charges by weight rather than just by load. Concrete, dirt, slate from pool tables, certain construction debris — these all add disposal cost beyond what volume alone explains. The customer-facing number reflects that honestly.

Disposal route matters too. A refrigerator with refrigerant has specific recovery costs handled the way EPA rules require. Mattresses go to recyclers when they qualify. Construction debris splits between landfill and recycling depending on what it is. Donation-grade furniture goes to Habitat ReStore when partner schedules align. Each route has a different cost profile and we route the load through the right channel.

Cost drivers

What actually affects your number.

  • Volume of items — the biggest single cost driver
  • Weight, especially construction debris, concrete, and slate
  • Floor of the building (upstairs adds time and crew effort)
  • Access — narrow stairwells, gated communities, distance from truck to junk
  • Disposal route (recycling, donation, landfill, e-waste, refrigerant recovery)
  • Time of day or urgency — same-day premium when applicable

How to get a number

Three ways to get a real estimate.

Phone quotes work for most furniture, single-appliance, and small-cleanout calls. We ask the right questions — item types, count, location, access — and most of the time we can give you a real number on the line. No deposit, no obligation.

On-site estimates are required for whole-home cleanouts, hot tubs, sheds, demolition work, and anything where you can’t reasonably tell us volume in advance. Free, no obligation. We come look at the work, walk the property, and give you a written number before we leave.

Photo estimates are the middle ground. Text us photos of what needs to go, we give you a real number back. Works well for clearly-visible items — a couch on the curb, a fridge in the garage, a shed in the backyard. Doesn’t work for jobs with hidden volume (full attic, packed storage unit) where photos understate what’s actually there.

What’s included

Every quote covers all of this.

  • Two-person crew (or three-person for heavier items)
  • All labor — carrying, loading, hauling
  • All disposal fees and recycling routing
  • Cleanup at pickup site — we sweep up before we leave
  • No hidden fees, no surprise add-ons

When pricing changes

No surprises after the truck is loaded.

We hold our quoted price unless the actual job is meaningfully different than what we were told. If a customer calls about a couch and we arrive to find a sectional plus a bed plus three boxes of stuff, we explain the new number before we start the work. If the customer says no, we walk away — no charge for showing up. If the customer says yes, we proceed at the revised number.

The principle is simple: no surprises after the truck is loaded. The number you agree to before we start is the number you pay.
