Murphy bed removal across the Golden Isles.
Wall-mounted, fold-down beds bolted into the studs. We release the mechanism, unbolt the frame, and carry it out.
Part of our Furniture Removal service
A Murphy bed isn’t furniture you slide out of the room — it’s hardware fastened to your house. The frame is bolted into the wall studs, and on a lot of installs it’s anchored to the floor as well. That alone moves this job out of the carry-it-to-the-truck category and into something closer to a small demolition.
The part that makes it different is the counterbalance. Fold-down beds ride on a spring assembly or a gas-piston mechanism that holds the mattress platform under tension whether the bed is up or down. You can’t just start backing out bolts — that tension has to be released in a controlled way first, in the right order, or the frame fights you on the way out. We handle that release deliberately, then take the fasteners out of the studs and lower the frame down.
The surround usually comes with it. Most Murphy beds sit inside a cabinet or a face-frame that’s attached to the same wall, and the two come apart together. When the whole thing is built into the wall — a true murphy-bed wall with integrated cabinetry running floor to ceiling — you’ve crossed into light-demolition territory, and we’d scope that the way we scope any demo-plus-haul job rather than treat it like a single piece of furniture.
What we haul
Specifically, what we take for murphy bed removal.
- Wall-mounted Murphy beds bolted into studs
- Cabinet Murphy beds with integrated surrounds
- Fold-down wall beds (spring or piston counterbalance)
- Murphy bed surrounds, face-frames, and side cabinets
- The mattress that came out of the unit
- Vertical and horizontal fold orientations
How we work
How we actually handle it.
The first thing on a Murphy bed is the mechanism, not the bolts. The spring or piston that counterbalances the platform stays under load even when the bed is folded up, so we release that tension in a controlled way before anything comes off the wall. Skip that step and the frame is dangerous to take apart; do it right and the rest is straightforward.
From there it’s an unbolting job. The frame is fastened into the wall studs and frequently into the floor too, so we back those fasteners out, support the weight, and lower the frame down rather than letting it drop. The surrounding cabinet or face-frame usually separates from the same wall and rides out in the same load.
We do not patch or repair the wall once the frame is off. Removing fasteners from studs leaves holes behind, and on some installs there will be visible anchor points where the bed was mounted — that’s the nature of taking out something that was bolted in. We take the bed and the surround out cleanly, but finish work on the wall isn’t part of the job unless we’ve scoped it separately.
Pricing
How pricing works.
Murphy bed pricing reflects that this is a demo-plus-haul job, not a single-item carry. We’re releasing a tensioned mechanism, unbolting a frame from studs and often the floor, and breaking down a surround before any of it goes on the truck. A freestanding cabinet-style unit with simple fasteners is the lighter end; a true built-in wall with integrated cabinetry is the heavier end and overlaps our light-demolition scope.
Call us and describe what you’ve got — whether it’s a standalone cabinet bed or built into the wall, how it’s anchored, and where the room is in the house. We’ll give you a real number for your unit rather than a flat per-item rate that pretends every Murphy bed is the same.
