Bed frames are usually the easy part of a bedroom cleanout. The hard parts are the mattress (which we handle separately via the mattress disposal route) and the headboard (which is sometimes heavier than the frame itself). Most bed frame jobs ship as part of a bedroom-set pickup — frame plus mattress plus dresser plus nightstands — rather than as a frame-only call. The combined jobs run efficiently; the disassembly is the small step that makes the rest of the work fit through the door.

The most common call is the mattress replacement scenario where the frame goes too. New mattress arrives Wednesday, the old frame and mattress need to leave Thursday because the new one doesn’t fit the old frame’s rails or doesn’t suit the new headboard the customer is buying. Estate cleanouts produce bed frames in volume — often three or four at once across multiple bedrooms in a long-time family home. Failed frame calls — broken slats, cracked headboards, damaged side rails from years of use — are routine.

Operationally, bed frames split into four operational tiers. Metal frames are the lightest — 20 to 40 pounds, often fold flat for transport, single-person carry. Wood frames are heavier (40 to 100 pounds assembled) and usually need disassembly: rails unbolt from the headboard and footboard, slats stack separately, the headboard separates as its own piece. Platform beds vary by manufacturer: some come apart cleanly, some are one solid welded or glued unit. Storage beds — the platform-bed builds with drawers underneath — push 600+ pounds when fully assembled and almost always need full disassembly because the drawers, the platform, and the side rails can’t fit through doorways together.

We disassemble on site so the pieces fit through the doorway and down the stairs. Customers don’t need to figure out which bolts hold which rails. The frame comes apart in about ten minutes for standard wood builds; storage beds take longer because of the drawer count. Headboards heavier than the frame itself are common — solid-wood storage headboards with bookshelves built in can run 80 to 120 pounds on their own. Two-person carry standard, three-person on the heaviest pieces.

What we haul

Specifically, what we take for bed frame removal.

  • Metal bed frames (foldable, headboard-attachment style, rolling)
  • Solid-wood bed frames (oak, maple, cherry, pine)
  • Platform beds (modular and one-piece)
  • Storage beds (with built-in drawer pedestals underneath)
  • Bunk beds and loft beds (with disassembly)
  • Trundle beds (with pull-out lower frame)
  • Adjustable bed bases (electric, with motor handling like an appliance)
  • Headboards (solid wood, padded, upholstered, integrated bookshelf)
  • Footboards and side rails
  • Bed rails for various mattress sizes (twin, full, queen, king, California king)

How we work

How we actually handle it.

Most bed frame jobs run twenty to forty-five minutes per frame depending on size and disassembly. Metal frames fold and ride flat — the fastest version. Wood frames need bolt removal at the rail-to-headboard junctions; we bring sockets and the right wrench for the bolt heads. Slats lift off the rails and stack flat for transport.

Storage beds take longer because of the drawer count. The drawers slide out first, ride separately, and the platform either lifts off as one piece or comes apart at the assembly joints. Some storage beds are bolted to the headboard at the back of the platform; pulling those bolts is the slowest step. Customers can speed the visit by removing drawers ahead of time — that’s optional.

Adjustable bed bases (electric, motorized) handle differently. The motor adds weight in the lower frame, the bed surface separates from the motor housing, and the unit comes apart in two heavy pieces rather than the standard frame-and-rails breakdown. Two-person carry minimum on adjustable bases; three-person on king-size or commercial-grade builds.

Pricing

How pricing works.

Bed frame pricing scales with type, weight, and access. A metal foldable frame from a ground-floor bedroom is the lightest version. A king-size storage bed with full headboard set from a third-floor master bedroom is the heaviest. Adjustable bed bases price between because of the motor weight.

Phone quotes work for standard bed frame jobs. Photos help when the frame is unusually large (king-size, custom builds) or when it’s a storage bed where the drawer count affects the carry. Multi-piece bedroom-set jobs (frame plus mattress plus dresser plus nightstands) cost less per piece than single-item pickups; this is the most common bed frame scheduling pattern.

Disassembly is included. Customers don’t pay separately for the time we spend taking the frame apart — that’s part of removing the frame.

The honest exceptions

What we won’t take — for this item.

A short, honest list of edge cases we either won’t take or want to discuss before we show up. When in doubt, call us — we’ll walk through it before scheduling.

  • Bed frames with confirmed bedbug infestation that hasn’t been treated — call us first
  • Frames contaminated with biohazards beyond surface — that’s a remediation contractor’s scope first
  • Frame repair, slat replacement, or hardware salvage for resale
  • Custom-built or antique bed frames the customer believes are worth selling — we don’t appraise
