Part of our Furniture Removal service

A china cabinet is two problems stacked on top of each other. The bottom is a buffet — solid wood, drawers, sometimes a stone or thick laminate top — and it carries most of the weight. The top is a hutch full of glass: glass doors, glass shelves, and very often a mirrored back panel. That weight-plus-fragility combination is what sets this job apart from clearing out a plain cabinet, and it’s why people call us instead of muscling it down the hall themselves.

Most of these units come apart. The hutch top usually lifts straight off the buffet base once the screws or clips at the seam are released, which turns one impossible carry into two manageable ones. The cabinets that don’t separate — the older one-piece builds — are the heaviest and most awkward thing in the room, and we plan the route before we lift anything.

We treat the glass first and the wood second. Doors get secured or pulled, loose shelves come out and travel flat, and a mirrored back gets protected or removed before the frame ever tips. Nothing about this is a grab-and-go. The cabinet is leaving, but the glass shouldn’t shatter and the doorframe shouldn’t take the corner on the way out.

What we haul

Specifically, what we take for china cabinet removal.

  • China cabinets and hutches
  • Buffets, sideboards, and credenzas
  • Curio cabinets and glass-front display cabinets
  • Two-piece hutch-and-base units
  • Lighted and mirrored-back display cabinets
  • Corner china cabinets and built-in-style standalone units

How we work

How we actually handle it.

The first thing we figure out on site is whether the cabinet is one piece or two. Two-piece units are the common case: the hutch top sits on the buffet base and lifts free once the fasteners at the seam are out. We separate the halves in the room, carry each one on its own, and reunite nothing — both pieces go on the truck. One-piece cabinets are the harder version of this job, because the full height and weight have to clear the doorway in a single move.

Glass is the part we slow down for. Glass doors get latched, taped, or removed depending on how they’re hung. Loose glass shelves come out first and ride flat and separated so nothing stacks under load. Mirrored backs are the easiest thing in the room to crack against a wall, so we either pad them in place or pull them before the frame moves. None of this is dramatic — it’s just the order of operations that keeps the glass intact.

Access is the rest of the equation. These cabinets are tall, so low doorframes, ceiling-mounted fixtures, and tight turns at the top of a stair all factor in. We bring straps and dollies, we protect the floor, and we get the angle right before we commit to the lift.

Pricing

How pricing works.

China cabinet pricing tracks size, weight, and access. A compact two-piece curio that lifts apart cleanly and rolls out a ground-floor door is the lightest version of this job. A tall one-piece cabinet, or a glass-heavy hutch coming down a narrow stair, sits at the other end — more careful handling, more time, more hands.

Call us with what you’ve got, and a photo if you can, and we’ll give you a real number. We don’t run flat per-item rates that pretend a curio cabinet and a wall-length lighted hutch are the same job — yours is priced for what it actually takes to get it out of the room.

The honest exceptions

What we won’t take — for this item.

A short, honest list of edge cases we either won’t take or want to discuss before we show up. When in doubt, call us — we’ll walk through it before scheduling.

  • Cabinets we’re asked to dismantle into salvage lumber on site — we haul the unit out, we don’t demo it for parts
  • Cabinets contaminated with hazardous materials
