Is a Dead Generator Taking Up Space in Your Darien Shed?
Call or Text for the Next Generator Removal Opening in Darien
Yes. Most dead generators share a history: bought in a hurry before a storm, run hard for a few days, then parked in the shed and not cranked again until the next hurricane, when it wouldn’t start and a new one came home instead. The old one is still back there. We take those, the ones that sat in floodwater, and standby sets that have been replaced.

Generators and McIntosh County storm seasons
Hurricane season lands harder on rural McIntosh County than on the islands. When the wind gets through, sheds and outbuildings take the hit, the cleanup calls keep coming for weeks, and generators are part of that story — the one that ran for days and then quit, the one that sat in a flooded shed, the one replaced in a hurry. They tend to leave with the storm debris, or with the shed cleanout that follows a season later.
A portable might be sitting in a shed at a home out in Jones or in a barn a long way back from Highway 17. A generator is compact and heavy, the opposite of most things in a shed, so when the truck has to stop short of the building, a ramp or a dolly and the hands it needs carry it the rest of the way.
If you’re dealing with the rest of a storm-hit property — the downed fence, the wrecked shed, waterlogged furniture — the generator can go on the same trip.
What we haul
Generators we take
- Portable gas and inverter generators
- Contractor and jobsite generators on wheeled frames
- Whole-house standby generators and their transfer switches
- RV, marine and small auxiliary sets
- Units that sat in floodwater or seized up with old fuel
- Mounting frames and hardware that come out with the unit
- The dead mower, the old window unit and the rest of the shed on the same trip
What we handle
What we take care of
If there’s fuel in it, just mention it with your photos so we know what we’re dealing with, and we’ll work out the safest way to move it. A battery on the unit is the same: tell us what kind it is, or send a picture.
Standby sets come off their pads too. When licensed electrical or plumbing work is needed, that’s normally handled by you or a licensed pro. Show us what you have and where it is, and we’ll help figure out what’s needed and work around it. Once it’s free, unbolting the set and hauling it is our part.
Send us a few photos and tell us what you need removed. We’ll take it from there.
Pricing
What changes the price
Weight and the carry lead. A small inverter unit is a one-person lift; a contractor-grade frame runs a couple of hundred pounds and can mean extra hands and often a ramp; a standby set bolted to a pad is heavier again and priced as the removal it is.
Where it sits matters as much as what it is: a portable by an open garage door is a quick add to a load, while the same unit at the back of a barn, across a yard still soft from rain, is real work.
Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95.
After the pickup
Where it goes
A generator is mostly metal, so much of it usually goes to scrap at SA Recycling in Brunswick rather than to a landfill.
The rest is sorted by what it’s made of — on a McIntosh job, each part of the load goes as far as it needs to go and no farther.
