Done With the Old Hurricane Shutters on Your St. Simons Home?
Same-Day Hurricane Shutter Removal on St. Simons Often Available — Call or Text
Yes, we take them. Most of this work is the stack that sits against the garage wall for a season, then two, once the house has new windows: panels too long, sharp-edged and awkward for the trash. If the shutters are still on the house, taking them down is part of the job.
What we haul
What we take off your hands
- Aluminum and steel storm panels
- Accordion shutters with their tracks
- Roll-down shutters, housings and hardware
- Plywood window covers from storms past
- Headers, bolts and mounting tracks
- Shutters still on the house, taken down on site
What we handle
Taking shutters down and loading them
Stacked panels are a straightforward carry. Long ones are awkward rather than heavy, so the route out of the garage matters more than how many there are.
Mounted shutters come down first. Accordion and roll-down units unbolt from their tracks and housings, and the tracks leave with them. Photos of what’s mounted and how high it goes let us price the take-down and the haul together.
If taking a unit down touches anything structural or electrical, such as a powered roll-down shutter, mention it with the photos and we’ll tell you what it takes.
Send us a few photos and tell us what you need removed. We’ll take it from there.

St. Simons Island
Storm panels in island homes and condos
In a condo along the Demere corridor, a stack of panels in a storage closet or a garage bay is mostly a staging question. Where the truck can stop, for how long, and how the long pieces get from the door to the truck without tying up a hallway or a lot are settled with you or the building before we come.
An older home near the Village might have a mix: a few shutters still mounted, plywood cut for the windows years ago, panels stored under the house. Parking there is the hard part, so the take-down and the haul are timed to get in, work steadily and get out.
Up the island, the shutters might be on a house in Frederica or across the windows of one of the north-end waterfront properties at Hampton Point.
Right after a storm, the island’s schedule tilts toward debris and urgent cleanup, and we stay in touch rather than overpromise. A stack of old panels can usually wait out that stretch, and if your timing is flexible in the busy summer months, an early call lands you a sensible spot on the calendar.
Pricing
What changes the price
A stack usually prices by the space it takes on the truck. Shutters still mounted add the time to get them down, which depends on how many, what kind and how high, and a condo with an elevator and a long hallway is a different carry from a garage at the curb.
Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95. We don’t charge extra for same-day pickup when we have an open time slot.
After the pickup
Where it goes
We figure out the best destination for each load. The aluminum is worth recovering, so it’s usually recycled as scrap, often at SA Recycling in Brunswick.
Plywood covers and damaged pieces are sorted by material, and the load comes straight off the island to Brunswick.
