A sectional isn’t a couch with extra cushions — it’s several couches latched together. That’s the whole job in one sentence. An L-shaped couch that filled the room when it was delivered has to leave the room the same way it came in: in pieces, one connector at a time.

The problem is almost never the curb. It’s the gap between where the sectional sits and where the door is. A modular sofa that went in flat-packed and got built on site has been a single mass of upholstery ever since, and the doorway it came through may have been the only one wide enough. By the time we’re called, the layout has usually changed, the easy path is gone, and the unit needs to come apart at the seams before any of it moves.

We come for the room, not the photo. We read the connectors, figure out which pieces split and which were bolted, and plan the carry around the tightest pinch point in the house — not the widest. The sectional is leaving regardless; the walls, the trim, and the stair rail should look the same after we’re gone.

What we haul

Specifically, what we take for sectional sofa removal.

  • L-shaped sectional couches
  • Modular sofas built from separate seat units
  • Sectionals with a chaise or recliner end
  • U-shaped and pit-style sectionals
  • Oversized three- and four-piece sectional couches
  • Sleeper sectionals with a fold-out frame

How we work

How we actually handle it.

Most sectionals come apart — that’s the good news and the work, both at once. Manufacturers join the pieces with metal brackets, clips, or interlocking rails hidden under the cushions, and a modular sofa usually unhooks back into the same units it shipped as. We find the connectors, lift each section off the joint, and move the unit out one piece at a time instead of fighting the whole mass through a doorway it won’t fit.

Weight is the second variable. A single sectional seat is manageable; the full unit, with the frame and upholstery of what amounts to three or four couches, is not something two people muscle up a flight of stairs in one go — which is exactly why we break it down first. The chaise and any recliner end carry their own internal hardware and come off the run separately. Sleeper sectionals add a fold-out frame and spring deck, and that section is always the heaviest piece on the truck.

Access is what turns a routine job into a long one. Narrow stairwells, a tight turn at a landing, a second-floor walk-out, or a doorway that’s narrower than the panel it has to pass — we plan the carry around the worst of it. Now and then a piece was genuinely assembled in the room and the room has been remodeled since; if nothing else will fit, cutting is the only honest answer, and we’ll say so on site before we do it.

Pricing

How pricing works.

Sectional pricing scales with size, weight, and access — the same three things that decide the job itself. A two-piece L-shaped couch on a ground floor is the lightest version. A four-piece modular sofa with a sleeper section, sitting in an upstairs bonus room behind a narrow stair, is the heaviest. The piece count matters as much as the footprint, because every section is a separate carry.

Call us with what you’ve got — how many pieces, what floor it’s on, what the doorway and stairs look like — and we’ll give you a real number, priced by size, weight, and access. We don’t quote a flat rate that pretends every sectional is the same. Yours has its own piece count and its own path out the door, and we price it for what it actually is.

The honest exceptions

What we won’t take — for this item.

A short, honest list of edge cases we either won’t take or want to discuss before we show up. When in doubt, call us — we’ll walk through it before scheduling.

  • Sectionals with an active bedbug infestation we cannot confirm has been treated — call us first to discuss the protocol
  • Sectionals contaminated with hazardous materials
