Who Takes an Old Sewing Machine Cabinet in Brunswick?

Pricing
How pricing works.
What sewing machine removal costs here. We price by the tier your items fill, starting at $95–$150 for a 1/8 truck; a single item is quoted from a photo so we can confirm the tier before anything is loaded. The number you agree to is the number you pay, and it includes carry-out, the disposal fee and cleanup.
One machine in its cabinet is a small load. An industrial machine on its table weighs more and takes another set of hands, and a whole sewing room or a studio being closed — machines, tables, shelving, fabric — fills more of the truck. A photo of the room tells us which. The minimum for any pickup is $95.

Part of our Furniture Removal service
Yes, we take them, cabinet and all. The one most people call about is an old sewing machine built into a wooden table: the machine head folds down into the cabinet, a leaf flips over to close it, and from the outside it looks like a small desk. It’s heavier than any small desk has a right to be, because that head is mostly cast iron.
The others each have their own quirk. A treadle machine sits on an iron base with a big flywheel and a foot pedal underneath, and the iron is most of the weight. Industrial and upholstery machines ride on a steel table with a motor hanging under it, and they’re the heaviest of the bunch. A quilting frame is long rather than heavy, and comes apart into rails. A knitting machine is a long, flat bed that travels in its case if the case is still around.
Most of the time the head gets locked down or lifted out so the cabinet can be carried on its own, and the iron goes out separately.

How we work
Clearing a Sewing Room or Shop Around Brunswick
A sewing machine is rarely the only thing in the room. There’s the fabric stash, the patterns, the thread drawers, a cutting table, a chair with a cushion that’s seen a lot of hours. It can all go on the same trip, and anything you might want to keep — a pattern book, a box of buttons that belonged to someone — gets pointed out to you before it’s loaded.
What happens to it depends on what it is. A machine that still runs is the kind of thing we try to place with an organization we work with, such as Goodwill or the Salvation Army. They decide what they accept, and condition matters. Cast-iron heads, treadle bases and steel tables are mostly metal, and metal usually goes to scrap recycling, often at SA Recycling in Brunswick. The wood cabinet and the rest leave with the load.
A sewing machine almost never leaves by itself. In a house in Glynnvilla it might be a cabinet in the spare bedroom with the machine folded down inside, a closet of fabric and a chair nobody else sat in. At a shop along New Jesup Highway it could be an industrial machine on its steel table, with bolts of fabric and a cutting table behind it. Both come out the same way: the head comes off or gets locked down, the heavy pieces ride on a dolly, and the room is swept when it’s empty. Send a photo of the room, and we’ll price all of it, for any home or shop in Brunswick.
