Old Typewriters or Cash Registers to Clear Out in Brunswick?

Pricing
How pricing works.
What vintage office machine removal costs here. We price by the tier your items fill, starting at $95–$150 for a 1/8 truck; a single item is quoted from a photo so we can confirm the tier before anything is loaded. The number you agree to is the number you pay, and it includes carry-out, the disposal fee and cleanup.
These machines take little room on the truck and a lot of effort to carry, so the stairs and the distance to the door matter more than the count. One typewriter from a ground-floor office is a small pickup. A records room of microfiche readers on the third floor, or a garage of store machines, takes more hands and more time. The minimum for any pickup is $95.

Yes, we take old office machines — one typewriter or a back room full of them. These are the machines an office ran on before computers took over: manual and electric typewriters, adding machines and mechanical calculators, cash registers, punch clocks, dictation machines, mimeograph and ditto machines, a telex if somebody held onto it, and the big microfilm and microfiche readers from the records room.
What they have in common is that they’re small for what they weigh. They were built out of cast metal and steel, made to sit on a desk for thirty years, and they don’t have anywhere good to grab. An old office typewriter is a two-hand lift that wants to tip forward. A brass cash register is a dead weight with a cash drawer that slides open at the wrong moment. A microfiche reader is a big, top-heavy box with a glass screen on the front.
They tend to turn up all at once — in the storage closet of an office that’s moving, the back room of a family business that’s closing, or a garage where somebody’s father kept the machines from the store.

How we work
Old Office Machines From Brunswick Offices and Storerooms
The machines are carried, not rolled — a dolly where the floor allows, straps for the heavy ones, and blankets so a cast-metal corner doesn’t mark a wall on the way down a stairwell. The drawers on cash registers and the carriages on typewriters get secured before anything moves. Most of these jobs are on an upper floor, in a back storeroom or out in a garage, so the route out is what we look at first in your photos. If there’s an elevator or a loading door, we’ll plan around the building’s hours, after hours where that fits.
Before you pay anybody to haul them, it’s worth a minute to check what you have. Some old typewriters, cash registers and adding machines have collectors, and a machine that looks like junk to you might be worth something to someone. If you check and decide it’s going, we’ll take it.
Most of the weight is metal, so frames and cases often go to scrap recycling, such as SA Recycling in Brunswick. Electric machines and anything with a circuit board go to the appropriate electronics recycling or disposal channel. A machine in good working shape may find a second home through a donation organization we work with, if they’ll take it — they decide, and condition matters.
Plenty of offices around Parkwood and older businesses along the Norwich Street corridor have a storeroom that nobody has opened in years: a typewriter on a metal stand, an adding machine, a punch clock that came off the wall when the payroll changed, a microfiche reader from the records room. Upstairs storerooms and narrow back halls are the usual problem, and they’re easy enough with a dolly, a strap and a little patience. A photo of the machines and a word about the stairs is plenty for a firm price, and the old filing cabinets can go too, from any office in Brunswick.
