Can you take apart a bed frame that was put together in the room?

Yes. We take it apart on site so the pieces fit through the doorway and down the stairs, and you don't need to know which bolt holds what. Send a photo of the bed and we'll tell you what it takes.

Can you take just an old headboard or footboard?

Yes. A headboard or footboard on its own is a quick job, upholstered or solid wood, and the rest of the bed doesn't need to be part of the call.

Can you carry a heavy wooden bed down a flight of stairs in a Darien home?

We arrive with sockets and wrenches for the bolts at the rail joints, lift the slats off and stack them, and separate the headboard as its own piece — on plenty of beds it outweighs the rest of the frame. Storage beds take a little longer, because the drawers come out first and ride on their own. Metal frames usually fold flat and are the quickest of all.

A solid-wood bed in good condition may be worth offering to HART in McIntosh County or another organization we work with; they decide what they take, and condition counts.

Broken slats, cracked rails and water-damaged frames go to disposal.

What changes the price on a bed

The kind of bed, its weight and how far it travels. A folding metal frame from a ground-floor room is the light end; a king storage bed with a full headboard from an upstairs bedroom is the heavy end. Taking the frame apart is part of the job, never an extra charge.

A frame that leaves with its mattress, the dresser and the nightstands costs less per piece than a frame on its own, and on a whole-house job the beds simply fold into the staged estimate.
