A wet mattress is its own thing. A waterlogged king can weigh close to double what it did dry, so mention it when you call; we wrap those in plastic so they don’t drip through the truck onto everything else.

A mattress coming out of a cottage off one of the numbered streets is the same job as one in Brunswick or on St. Simons. The difference is getting onto the island: Sea Island is private, so we coordinate access with the homeowner, the property manager or the caretaker before the truck heads over. That arranging is ours to do.

Inside, the carry is the whole job: strap the mattress upright, bring it down the stairs and along the hallway without scuffing the walls, then out along the private drive without brushing the landscaping or the gate. Every mattress on the list leaves, nothing else does, and we clean up behind us.

When the owner isn’t on the island, nobody needs to wait at the house for us. We set access and timing with whoever manages it, take the beds, and leave the rooms clean.

We look for responsible reuse, recycling and disposal options when they’re practical and available. What happens to yours depends on its condition and on what’s open at the time.

If a genuine recycling or reuse option is available for a particular load, we use it and tell you plainly on site which one is happening; when there isn’t one, the mattress goes to proper disposal.
