Turnover work is where most island mattresses come from. A rental out at East Beach may need every bed replaced between one guest and the next, and that window doesn’t move. We plan the truck, the causeway and the carry so the old mattresses are out before the new ones are carried up.

A queen in a condo at Ocean Walk is mostly about the building and the street. Parking near the Village is scarce, so we get in, carry it out of the building, load it and get back out rather than holding a spot all morning.

After a storm or a long stretch of rain, wet mattresses stop being unusual. A soaked one can weigh close to double what it did dry, and mold follows fast in a closed-up house, so mention the water when you send the photo. Rental calls run from April into September, and we plan pickups around the turnover window.

We strap it upright and walk it out without scuffing the walls. A wood-framed box spring that won’t bend comes out on its own, and memory foam gets strapped down in the truck because it won’t hold its shape.

A wet mattress gets wrapped in plastic so it doesn’t drip through the house or the truck. If bedbugs are a possibility, please tell us before we arrive, so we can plan how it’s handled.
