Done With an Old Boat Lift or Davits on St. Simons?

Yes. A lift tends to outlast the boat it was bought for: the boat gets sold, the next one doesn’t fit, the cables or motor give out, and salt goes to work on the steel. Most of a lift is metal, which makes it heavy and awkward but worth separating, and that’s how we handle it.

St. Simons Island

Lifts along the island’s water

On St. Simons the lift might stand beside the dock behind a home in Harrington Landing or lie as a cradle and a stack of beams on the ground by the Frederica River at Gascoigne Bluff.

On the island’s larger waterfront properties, a lift job comes down to the distance between the lift and the equipment. How far it is from the water to where the trailer can sit, and where the truck can stay without being in anyone’s way, get settled before we arrive. Those jobs run slower on purpose, which is the pace people there expect.

Lift steel and aluminum leave with us over the causeway. There is a drop-off on the island, but since the material has to cross eventually, most loads go straight into Brunswick instead of making an extra stop, and that gets decided load by load.

What we handle

Taking a lift apart

A lift that’s already off the dock is the simple version. Anything too long to carry gets cut down, and the beams, cradle, motor and cables go on the truck together.

One that’s still standing depends on the setup. Send photos of the lift and where it sits, and we’ll tell you what it takes.

What we haul

Lifts and parts we take

  • Boat lifts and the beams, bunks and cradles that came off them
  • Jet ski and PWC lifts
  • Davits and support stands
  • Lift motors, winches, cables and hardware
  • A lift already down and lying on the bank or in the yard
  • A boat stand nobody has used in years

Pricing

What sets the price

Lifts are quoted from photos rather than off the truck-load table. The kind of lift, whether it’s still up and how much needs to come apart come first. After that it’s the walk: a lift at the end of a long walkway or down a sloped bank adds time with every beam. A jet ski or cradle leaving on the same trip is quoted together with it.

Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95.

After the pickup

Where the lift goes

We figure out the right destination for the lift based on what it’s made of and the shape it’s in, and the load heads off the island to Brunswick.

Aluminum and galvanized steel beams usually go to scrap recycling, often at SA Recycling in Brunswick.

The rotted bunk boards and anything else without metal in it go to disposal.
