Yes — the bed comes apart where it stands and leaves in pieces, along with the overbed table, the commode and anything else the room no longer needs. One photo of the bed and the room is enough for a firm price.

St. Simons Island

When the bed is on St. Simons

A lot of home care on the island happens in condos along the Demere corridor, and there the building shapes the visit more than the bed does. We settle the elevator and where the truck can wait with you or the management before we come, keep the rails and frame staged out of the hallway, and leave neighbors able to get in and out of the lot.

The bed could be in a house in Epworth Acres or at a home in Gascoigne Bluff along the Frederica River. A photo of the bed where it stands and a word about the steps or the elevator is all the planning it needs.

In the gated communities and bigger homes up the island, the walk from a back bedroom to the driveway can be long. That’s fine: the bed is already in pieces, so it’s several easy carries instead of one awkward one. If there’s a gate, we set up the code or a scheduled window with the family or the caretaker before the truck heads up the island.

These visits often come when a parent has moved to assisted living or passed, and the house holds a lifetime of things. On the island we take our time over that. If anything in the room looks personal or worth keeping, we stop and ask, and we leave the space clean when we go.

What we handle

What we take care of

We lower the bed, unplug it and break it down right there in the room into rails, mattress, deck, frame and motor assembly. The pieces go out one at a time, so nobody wrestles a whole bed through a bedroom door or into an elevator car.

If there’s a stair lift on the staircase, send us a few photos and tell us where it is, and we’ll tell you what it takes. The walker, the wheelchair, the shower chair and the lift chair in the living room can all go in the same visit.

Send us a few photos and tell us what you need removed. We’ll take it from there.

What we haul

Beds and equipment we take

  • Full-electric and semi-electric home-care beds
  • Bariatric beds and their frames

  • The dresser, nightstand and anything else the room is done with

After the pickup

Where it goes

We figure out the right destination piece by piece. The steel frame and rails can go to scrap, often at SA Recycling in Brunswick, and the mattress and soft goods are routed by their condition.

Equipment that still has real use in it may suit someone else, and we try where that’s realistic. Whoever receives it decides what they can take, so it’s never a promise.

Whatever nothing better fits goes to disposal, and all of it comes off the island to Brunswick.

Pricing

What changes the price

Taken apart, a bed is a small load. The number grows with what else goes from the room and with stairs between the bedroom and the door. A third-floor condo with a good elevator can be simpler than a raised beach house with a long outside staircase, and the causeway drive is already counted.

Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95. We don’t charge extra for same-day pickup when we have an open time slot.
