If you’re handling the sale from somewhere else, that’s fine. A lockbox, the listing agent or a neighbor can let us in. If you need photos or a list of what left for your records, tell us when you book and we’ll work with you.

Clearing a house for closing on the island
On the main residential side of the island the homes are spread out and the driveways take the truck without trouble. Whether the house sits near the golf course off Captain Wylly Road or closer to the water by South Beach, the job is mostly the carry from the back bedrooms, the closets and the garage.
What takes planning is the round trip. Everything we load comes back off the island with us, and where it goes from there depends on what’s on the truck, so a full house gets planned around the closing date. We’d rather finish a few days before the walkthrough, which leaves room for a second trip if something turns up, than cut it close.
When it was a parent’s place or the family’s vacation house for years, some of what looks like clutter deserves a second look. Papers, photographs and anything else that looks personal or valuable get set aside for you, not decided by the crew.

Send the closing and walkthrough dates with your photos, and we schedule backward from your date.
If the family still has decisions to make, we can do it in stages: the garage and storage on one trip, the rooms with choices left in them on another. And if something turns up after we’ve been through, a short return trip handles it before the buyer sees it.

After the pickup
Where it goes
We work out the right destination for each part of the house once it’s on the truck. Furniture and housewares someone else could use are often offered to organizations we work with, such as Goodwill or Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and what they accept is up to them.
An old garage refrigerator or freezer usually goes through an appliance and refrigerant recycling channel such as SA Recycling in Brunswick, where scrap metal often ends up as well.
Whatever has truly reached the end goes to disposal, and nothing from the house is left on the island.
Pricing
What sets the number
How much is there and how hard it is to reach. The last few pieces after a move are priced by the share of the truck they fill; a full house, with every room, the garage, the attic and the yard, is quoted as one project from photos or a quick look. The two bridge crossings are counted in from the first estimate.
Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95. We don’t charge extra for same-day pickup when we have an open time slot.
