Need an Old Outboard Motor Out of a St. Simons Garage?

Yes. An outboard usually outlives its boat. The hull goes, the motor gets pulled to rebuild someday, and it waits on a stand in the garage with a spare lower unit and a box of parts beside it. We strap it, keep it upright and carry it out with everything around it.
St. Simons Island
Outboards in island homes
On St. Simons that motor might be in a workshop at a Harrington Landing home or in a shed behind a Black Banks house.
Often an outboard turns up when a family is finally going through a parent’s house. A lot of homes on this island carry real history, and a garage of boat gear can hold something worth a second look. We don’t rush that part: if a motor, a prop or a box of fittings might have value or meaning to someone, it gets set aside and we ask you before it goes anywhere.
Around the Village and the south end, the carry is usually the hard part. Older homes, scarce parking and steady foot traffic mean the truck can’t sit at the curb all afternoon, so we work out where to stop before we come, then get in, carry the motor out efficiently and get out.

What we handle
How a motor comes out
A small kicker is a one-person carry. Bigger motors go onto a dolly or stand, strapped and kept upright, because the power head sits high and a top-heavy motor that tips on a step is how floors and doorframes get damaged. Your photo tells us roughly how big it is and what stands between it and the truck.
If there’s still fuel or oil in it, just say so with the photo; anything special gets sorted out with you when we quote.
Send us a few photos and tell us what you need removed. We’ll take it from there.
Pricing
What changes the price
A motor takes little room on the truck, so the price follows its weight, the carry and whatever else rides along. A kicker on a garage floor is a small pickup; a big V6 at the back of a cramped shed, with a pile of parts beside it, is more work. The causeway drive is in the number from the start.
Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95.
After the pickup
Where the motor goes
We figure out the right destination for the motor and the parts around it, and the load comes straight off the island to Brunswick.
The block, shaft and lower unit are metal, and metal like that usually goes to scrap recycling, often at SA Recycling in Brunswick.
Plastic cowlings and perished fuel hoses are what’s left for disposal.
