Need an Old Refrigerator Hauled Off St. Simons Island?
Same-Day Refrigerator Removal on St. Simons Often Available — Call or Text
Getting a refrigerator out is rarely about the refrigerator. It’s the water line behind it, a doorway the new one barely made it through, a condo hallway, or a street with nowhere to leave a truck. Out here, most of the planning goes into those parts.
Once it’s out, it comes off the island, usually to SA Recycling in Brunswick, which recovers the refrigerant.
St. Simons Island
How a fridge job works on the island
The Demere corridor is condos, businesses and traffic, and a fridge coming out of a condo there is more about the building than the appliance. We’ll work out the elevator and where the truck can stop with you or the building before we come, and we find a spot to stage the unit between the door and the truck that isn’t in anybody’s way. After that, the rest of the job is ordinary.
Near the beach and around the Village the streets are tight and parking is scarce, worst in summer. We would rather bring the smaller truck, park where nobody gets boxed in, and walk the fridge a little farther than block a street to save ourselves a few minutes. If it’s a rental between guests, we plan around the check-in time, not just the day.
Along Sea Island Road and up toward the north end the houses are bigger and the driveways longer, so the carry is the job — from the kitchen, or from the second fridge out in the garage, to wherever the truck can sit. If there’s a gate, we’ll coordinate it with whoever lets us in.
Whether it’s an older home in King City or an established neighborhood like Butler Plantation, an older house often has a doorway narrower than the fridge that went in later, and that is when the doors come off.
Everything we haul crosses the causeway, and in summer that adds real time at both ends of the day. It’s already in the price. From April through September the rental turnovers run heavy, and we plan the pickup around your turnover window.
What we handle
What we take care of
If it has an ice maker or a water dispenser, there’s a water line behind it. We disconnect it when we pull the unit out.
If the doorway is tighter than the fridge, we take the doors off. Built-in and counter-depth units are sometimes screwed into the cabinetry, and those come out with tools rather than a pry bar, so the cabinets and the tile stay the way they were.
A fridge from a condo with an elevator, one carried down an outside stair, and one rolled out of a ground-level kitchen are three different carries. The crew is set by the unit and the carry, and a photo or two tells us the rest.
If there’s still food inside, just mention it when you send the photos.

After the pickup
Where it goes
A refrigerator can’t go in an ordinary load because of the refrigerant sealed inside it, so we figure out the right destination for it: the appropriate appliance and refrigerant recycling channel, most often SA Recycling in Brunswick, where the refrigerant is recovered as part of their process. You don’t have to do anything about it.
It comes straight off the island to Brunswick, and when it goes to SA Recycling, the metal goes into their scrap process instead of a landfill.
A fridge that still runs is a different conversation. Sometimes one with life left in it gets an inexpensive repair and goes to a family who needs it. That depends on the unit, and we look before anything goes to scrap.
Pricing
What changes the price
We price the unit and the carry: its size, whether it’s built in, what floor it’s on, how far it is to the truck, and whether there’s an elevator or a stair in the way. The causeway drive is in the number from the start, not added at the end.
Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95. We don’t charge extra for same-day pickup when we have an open time slot.
