Is an Armoire Too Big for the Stairs in Your St. Simons House?
Same-Day Armoire & Wardrobe Removal on St. Simons Often Available — Call or Text
Yes, we take armoires and wardrobes of every era: the cedar wardrobe from a grandparent’s house, the chifforobe, the clothes press and linen press, the flat-pack wardrobe from a guest room. Most of them were assembled right in the room, so the doorway is often narrower than the wardrobe by an inch or two. That’s normal, and it’s where we start.
What we handle
How an armoire comes out
Doors off, the cabinet width drops by four to six inches, which is often enough for a doorway that wouldn’t pass the assembled piece. On solid-wood pieces, the back panel is typically tacked on with small nails or stapled to the cabinet sides, and it can come off for the carry without hurting the piece.
A flat-pack wardrobe is easier: the wardrobe rides flat as three or four pieces. The hard one is the antique that is tall, deep, and heavy, in a single piece that doesn’t come apart. It’s top-heavy, so it wants to go somewhere you didn’t plan, and the crew is sized to that piece: the weight and the stairwell decide it, not a rule.
Send us a few photos and tell us what you need removed. We’ll take it from there.
St. Simons Island
Tall pieces in the island’s larger homes
Up the island, along Sea Island Road and toward the north end, the houses are bigger and the pace is meant to be slower. An armoire there has usually stood in the same bedroom for decades, and getting it out means watching what it passes on the way: a stair rail, a finished floor, a doorway with original trim. Nobody up there wants it fast. They want it done right.
On the larger lots the distance from the bedroom to wherever the truck can sit is part of the job, and so is the gate. For a home in Hamilton Landing or a house over in Epworth Acres, we settle the access and the truck spot with you before the day.
On an island where word travels fast, how a crew treats a house is noticed. Floor protection goes down before the carry begins, and the room is left clean behind the piece.

After the pickup
Where it goes
We figure out the right destination once the piece is out and we can see it whole. A solid-wood wardrobe in good shape may be worth offering to an organization we work with, such as Habitat for Humanity ReStore or the Salvation Army, which decides what it accepts.
Modern bedrooms come with built-in closets that handle the storage a wardrobe used to, so a lot of these don’t find a second home. Worn or flat-pack pieces are disposed of properly, and the load comes off the island straight to Brunswick.
Pricing
What changes the price
Wardrobe pricing scales with material, size, weight, and access. A small flat-pack wardrobe from a ground-floor guest room is quick; a solid antique armoire from an upstairs bedroom with a tight landing is the heavy end. Door removal and back-panel separation are part of the work, not separate line items.
Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95. We don’t charge extra for same-day pickup when we have an open time slot.
