Refreshing a rental on the island

On a rental the date is only half the deadline; the other half is the hour the next guests walk in, and that hour doesn’t move. Tell us the delivery window and the first night the house is booked again, and we work backward from both, planning the truck, the causeway and the carry so the old furniture is gone before the new arrives.

A house near Gould’s Inlet at the north end of the beach is mostly a question of the street: parking, access and where the trailer can sit get settled on the phone, not discovered on arrival. A house mid-island in Barnes Plantation gets the same planning, and a whole-house refresh in either can call for more than one truck or a dump trailer alongside.

From April into September, turnovers come one after another. A planned refresh can land in any month; give us the dates and we plan around the guests.

How we run a refresh

Photos from your cleaners or manager and a door code or lockbox are enough; you don’t need to be on the island. Point out what stays and the crew works around it. If you’re unsure about a piece, leave it for now, since a second, smaller pickup later is simple.

Rental furniture is bought to survive, not to last, but solid wood tables, dressers and bed frames are worth a second look before they go.

Pricing

What changes the price

A couple of bedrooms is priced by how much of the truck it fills; a whole house, every bed and the deck furniture included, is quoted as one project. Stairs, raised beach houses and a long walk from the door to the trailer all add time, and time is most of the cost.

Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95. We don’t charge extra for same-day pickup when we have an open time slot.

Where it goes

We figure out the right destination for each piece. Usable furniture gets offered to organizations we work with, such as Habitat ReStore, the Salvation Army or HART, and they decide what they take.

For used rental mattresses off the island, we look for responsible reuse, recycling and disposal options when they’re practical and available. Old refrigerators go through an appliance and refrigerant recycling channel, often SA Recycling in Brunswick, and the whole load leaves the island for Brunswick.
