The short version

Backyard Cleanouts at a glance.

What it is
Clearing the junk that lives outside — patio furniture, grills, trampolines, swing sets, kennels, scrap metal and lumber — carried out from wherever it sits.
What’s included
  • Everything carried out from the back yard, side yard, porch or patio
  • Swing sets, trampolines and kennels taken apart on site
  • Scrap metal recycled, often at SA Recycling in Brunswick
  • Green waste and light demolition in the same visit
How pricing works
Priced by how much of the truck the load fills; demolition is priced as part of the project. Firm price from your photos, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95.

A backyard collects junk differently than a house does. Nothing outside gets put away — it gets set down. The grill that quit gets pushed against the fence. The patio set with the broken strap moves to the side yard. Leftover boards from a project go behind the shed “for later.” A trampoline loses its net, then its pad, then it’s just a rusting ring in the grass. Salt air and summer storms do the rest.

At some point you look out the back window and realize you can’t picture the yard without it. Usually something forces the issue — you’re selling, you’re putting in something new, company is coming, or the HOA sent a letter.

The hard part isn’t deciding. Most of it you decided years ago. The hard part is that it’s heavy, awkward, wet, often half-buried in weeds, and it has to come all the way around the house to get to a truck.

Who calls us

Who we run this work for.

The main decision is how far you want to go. Some people just want the obvious junk gone — the dead grill, the broken chairs, the pile. Others want the yard reset: the old swing set taken apart, the falling-down dog run pulled out, the fire pit ring that nobody uses removed. Both are the same visit; the second is just a bigger load.

The other decision is whether anything structural is part of it. Loose items are straight hauling. A shed, a section of fence, a small deck or a pergola is light demolition — still something we do, and still something we can do the same day as the rest, but it changes the price, so show it to us in the photos.

If there’s a lot of green waste mixed in — branch piles, hedge cuttings, leaves — that can go too. Our yard debris page covers that work on its own when it’s the main event.

How we do it

Backyard Junk on Brunswick Lots, Big and Small

Send a few photos of what you want gone — wide shots are better than close-ups — and tell us roughly where it is: side yard, back corner, under the deck. We come back with a firm price, confirmed before anything is loaded.

You don’t drag anything to the curb. The crew walks it out from wherever it sits, through the gate or around the side of the house, and loads it. Things that are rusted together or half-sunk get worked loose. A swing set or a trampoline gets taken apart enough to carry. Where there’s a big pile, the truck or trailer is positioned as close as the property allows.

Sorting happens as it goes on the truck. Metal — grill bodies, frames, old swing sets, fencing — usually goes to scrap, often at SA Recycling in Brunswick. An old outdoor fridge goes through the appropriate refrigerant recycling channel, often SA Recycling too, where refrigerant is recovered properly. Patio furniture and outdoor pieces still in decent shape can be offered to local organizations we work with, though after a few years outside, most of it is past that. What can’t be reused or recycled goes to disposal.

Same-day pickup is often available in Brunswick, St. Simons Island and the Golden Isles — call or text for the next available opening. Camden County and inland areas are scheduled, usually within the week. Send the photos with your message and we can quote it in the same conversation.

On a rural lot in Brookman or out toward Thalman, the junk may be a long way from the road — behind the shed, along the tree line, out past where the grass gets mowed. That’s fine. The crew walks it out from wherever it sits and brings the truck or trailer as close as the ground allows. Wide photos tell us more than close-ups, and a word about the gate or the way in saves time on the day. Old grills, frames and fencing get sorted out as metal when it’s practical, and the rest is loaded and gone in one visit where the volume allows. That holds for backyards across rural Glynn and in town.

What’s in scope

What we haul.

What we haul in this category

  • Patio furniture, porch furniture and cushions — broken, faded or just unwanted
  • Grills, smokers and old outdoor fridges
  • Trampolines, swing sets and playsets, taken apart on site
  • Dog kennels, runs and old pet structures
  • Scrap metal piles, old fencing, rolled wire and metal frames
  • Lumber, leftover project materials and old pallets
  • Fire pits, planters, bird baths and yard decor
  • Branch piles and yard waste mixed in with the junk
  • Sheds, small decks and fence sections as light demolition, same visit

Hazardous materials — chemicals, solvents, fuel, asbestos-suspect material and the like — need their own route, and we’ll tell you where they go.

Pricing

How pricing works on these jobs.

Backyard cleanouts price the same as any load: by how much of the truck it fills. Heavy, compact stuff and bulky, light stuff both count — a pile of wet lumber and a stack of plastic chairs can take up very different amounts of room for the same number of trips.

Taking something apart, like a swing set or a dog kennel, is part of the job. Real demolition — a shed, a deck, a fence line — gets priced as part of the project. Either way, send photos and we’ll give you a firm price, confirmed before anything is loaded. The minimum for any pickup is $95.

Backyard junk and yard waste are two different loads

People often call us for “yard cleanup” and mean one of two things. One is green: branches, leaves, pine straw, hedge clippings. The other is everything else that ended up outside — furniture, metal, plastic, wood, toys and equipment.

This page is the second kind. It’s heavier, it’s mixed, and it gets sorted differently, because a pile of metal and a pile of brush don’t go to the same place. If your yard is mostly green waste, the yard debris page is the better fit. If it’s both, that’s fine — one visit handles it.

What the coast does to things left outside

Down here, outdoor stuff doesn’t age gracefully. Salt air gets into metal hinges and grill bodies, sun breaks down plastic and fabric straps, and humidity soaks cushions and anything made of particleboard. That’s why a patio set that looked fine three summers ago can come apart in your hands now.

It also matters for where things go. A metal frame that’s rusting is still scrap. A cushion that’s been rained on for two years usually isn’t going to a donation shelf, and we won’t pretend otherwise. Outdoor furniture that’s still solid is worth a try, and when a local organization can use it, it goes there.

Porch and deck furniture at the beach cottages and vacation homes of East Beach gets the same treatment as a backyard in Brunswick. Out there, parking, access and where the trailer can sit are part of planning the job, so a wide photo of the street side helps along with the pile itself.
