TV removal is one of those jobs where the weight catches people off guard. A 32-inch tube TV from the early 2000s can run seventy-five pounds — heavier than the dresser most people would call us to haul. The flat panels that replaced them weigh less, but they’re fragile, awkward to grip, and easy to crack if a corner takes the wrong impact.

The other reality is that a TV takes more thought than ordinary household junk, and where it can go is a narrower question than most people expect. Not every facility accepts broken electronics. Broadhurst does — televisions, old stereos, VCRs, record players, that whole category of end-of-life electronics — which is a large part of why a job in McIntosh County can end up sending its electronics somewhere other than the county's own facility, because that facility can't take them. So a TV gets routed by what it is, what condition it's in, and what the receiving facilities near that job will actually accept. CRTs in particular have gotten harder to place as the market for leaded glass has shrunk.

The old sets are the ones that surprise people, every single time. Somebody says “I’ve got an old TV in the garage,” and what we find is a console set from the early nineties sitting on the floor in the back corner behind ten years of everything else. Rear-projection consoles are the extreme version — built like furniture, well past two hundred pounds, and shaped so there is nowhere good to hold. Those sets were made to last, and they did. They also got shoved into the worst spot in the house the day the flat screen arrived and haven’t moved since, which means the carry-out is usually the hardest part of the job and the reason the call happens at all.

Multi-TV jobs are common — whole-house upgrades, business renovations, hotel refreshes. We handle the volume the same way we handle a single set: carefully, on the dolly, in the right protective layer.
